A Global Milestone in Youth Leadership and Empowerment: The 2025 "Igniting Change" Official Side Event

The 2025 "Igniting Change" side event has firmly established itself as a dynamic force for advancing youth leadership and social entrepreneurship on a global scale. Streaming live to over 2,500 viewers across 45 countries, the event showcased inspiring discussions, strategic collaborations, and groundbreaking initiatives, all aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the guiding principles of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Its deep connection with the 2025 Youth Forum further underscores its critical role in shaping global dialogue and action in fostering youth-driven solutions.

The progress achieved this year reflects the transformative potential of collaboration, inclusion, and innovation. New partnerships were formed, with a special focus on supporting young entrepreneurs with special needs. "We must find ways to get resources and support to our youth to help them stay local and grow in our communities," emphasized Jason O’Connor, underscoring the necessity of valuing and empowering our talented young leaders.

Transforming Lives Through Leadership and Entrepreneurship

The event highlighted the remarkable stories of young entrepreneurs who are already making strides towards a sustainable future. One such voice belonged to Allison Danial, a dedicated Youth Ambassador for Hunt Hill Farm NGO. Reflecting on her empowering experience, she shared, "Since I joined the Youth Social Entrepreneurship Program (YSEP) in 2022, I have learned so much about business development and solidarity. Being able to speak at the event, attend the UN Youth Forum at UNHQ, and connect with thousands of young visionaries from over 100 countries has been life-changing. All we are asking is an opportunity to thrive, and Hunt Hill Farm has given me exactly that."

The event also featured Chef Carlos Nuno, a 22-year-old restaurateur from the Azores. Nuno passionately spoke about the difficulties young entrepreneurs face. "It is challenging for people under 30 to access the financial support needed to expand and sustain their businesses. Yet, this event proves there is a global commitment to support young innovators." Having already worked in six Michelin star restaurants, including the world-renowned El Celler de Can Roca, Chef Carlos embodies the resilience and ambition that events like "Igniting Change" are designed to champion.

Another compelling moment came from Guilherme Lepca of Barco Sorriso NGO, who praised Hunt Hill Farm's president, Alessandro Piovezahn, for 12 years of mentorship. "Alessandro gave me the guidance I needed to turn a dream into reality. Today, our NGO provides essential medical and dental care to thousands of families in remote Brazilian communities, and we are working towards UN-ECOSOC accreditation. His unwavering commitment showed me that mentorship can truly transform lives."

Innovation for the Future

During the event, Dr. Hanifa Mezoui of AICESIS highlighted the importance of knowledge-sharing and mentorship platforms to empower youth globally. "The limitless possibilities for collaboration with organizations like Hunt Hill Farm are crucial to achieving the SDGs," said Dr. Mezoui. She called upon public and private sectors to ensure consistent support for Hunt Hill Farm, citing its proven track record of impact and its potential to inspire generations to come.

Adding a forward-looking perspective, Dr. Stephanie Soalt, Social Emotional Learning and Special Needs Director at Hunt Hill Farm, expressed the significance of new initiatives. These included the formation of a Youth Advisory Board, composed of six youth leaders aged 15 to 17, and the groundbreaking partnership with WALO AI to develop the LivelyUp Youth Leadership Engagement Network. The Network’s MVP is set to launch its Beta test during the 2026 UN Youth Forum, aiming to provide a secure and collaborative space for young changemakers to exchange ideas and solutions.

A Vision for Sustained Impact

"This year, we are honored to host the 'Igniting Change' UN Youth Forum side event for the second year in a row," said Alessandro Piovezahn, President of Hunt Hill Farm NGO. "Sharing our concept note for youth empowerment through social entrepreneurship, STEAM innovation, and micro-business opportunities with communities around the world aligns directly with the 2030 Agenda. It is a privilege to work towards the realization of the SDGs alongside so many inspired young leaders."

The event also welcomed the participation of Mayor Pete Bass of New Milford, who highlighted the local and global importance of supporting youth initiatives, praising Hunt Hill Farm for its long-lasting contributions to the community.

The 2025 "Igniting Change" event not only illuminated pressing challenges in youth empowerment but also provided actionable strategies and partnerships to overcome them. By fostering impactful discourse and showcasing tangible results, it has set the stage for scalable, innovative solutions that can be replicated across the world.

With the upcoming launch of the official report and concept note on the UN-ECOSOC website, Hunt Hill Farm continues to lead by example, proving its dedication to empowering young entrepreneurs and changemakers.
