Bringing Music to Young Hearts: A Transformative Journey to Carnegie Hall

If you live in New Milford and would like to include your child in the 2025 group please send an email to info@thesilo.org or call 860 355 0300.

For the fourth year in a row, we are thrilled to announce that 50 kids will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend a live performance by the renowned New York Pops orchestra at Carnegie Hall—completely free of charge for them and their families.

This inspiring program, created by Ruth Henderson in 1993, was founded with a single purpose in mind: to provide young children the chance to experience the magic of live orchestral music at Carnegie Hall, America’s most iconic concert venue. The New York Pops, America’s largest independent orchestra, holds a special place in our hearts as it was founded in 1983 by Ruth and Skitch Henderson, right here at Hunt Hill Farm, The Silo's home.

This incredible tradition is made possible through the boundless generosity of Anne Swanson, Executive Director of the New York Pops, who graciously donates 50 tickets each year. Her support not only allows us to open the doors of Carnegie Hall to these children but also reinforces the deep connection between the New York Pops and their birthplace, right here in New Milford.

Additionally, this adventure could not happen without the unwavering kindness and commitment of Mayor Pete Bass and the New Milford Commission on the Arts, who ensure the kids’ safe and comfortable transportation by sponsoring the bus each year. Their dedication makes it possible for our local youth to experience this cultural treasure.

Our mission is simple yet profound—bring children from New Milford and surrounding towns, many of whom may never otherwise have the chance to visit Carnegie Hall, to witness the power of live music. We firmly believe that this experience has the potential to be life-changing, igniting a love for the arts and opening their eyes to the beauty of creativity and expression.

Thanks to every person who contributes to making this dream a reality. Together, we are nurturing the next generation of dreamers, artists, and admirers of the arts. Here’s to another remarkable year of music and magic!
